I’m a School Governor at a local Primary School, and would love to help them give something back to the Community to help with STEM Activities.

I have worked closely with my local authorities Skills and Development Team for the past couple of years. They work really hardly to engage with schools and children to help them choose careers and get into the workplace when they leave school. Their latest project “Tameside Menu Of Choice” aims to get businesses and schools talking to each other so that young adults can learn more about different industries first hand. The money would do a long way towards different workshops and events to showcase engineering and other related disciplines within schools.

I didn’t even know what engineering was until I was doing my A-levels so I am really passionate about spreading the word about what we do as engineers to schools to give you all the opportunity to find out about it as early on as possible (you might decide you hate it, but that’s fine as long as you know it exists!) I think the schools demonstrations we do are a really fun and memorable way of sharing what we do so I’d really love to be able to go to more schools and make our demonstrations even more memorable.
